This interactive tour brings the Theme Park’s exciting historical and gold mining attractions together in an entertaining and informative package. Go in search of the 'Big Five' and other animal species on an open vehicle game drive in the malaria free Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. Discover Lesedi Cultural Village, home to various African tribes, living in traditional homesteads. The Cradle of Humankind comprises a strip of a dozen dolomitic limestone caves containing the fossilised remains of ancient forms of animals, plants and most importantly, hominids. The dolomite in which the caves formed, started out as coral reefs growing in a warm shallow sea about 2.3 billion years ago. One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to the exhibition centre that provides you with information about fossilization, palaeobotany and landscapes. You'll find more details about important finds such as Mrs. Ples, the Taung Child and Little Foot. End the day by visiting the Sterkfontein Caves where you will explore the caves dating back to 4 million years.

We visit a Cheetah Centre that was established in 1971 – its aim to ensure the long term survival of the Cheetah, African Wild Dog and other wild animals in general. Enjoy a light lunch (for own account) before touring the centre.

Terms and Conditions

Notifications of Cancellations must be received in writing and the following penalties, calculated as from the date of receipt of notice, will apply:

  • Cancellation before 9 April 2012 : 25% (twenty-five percent) of the price advertised.
  • Cancellation before 24 April 2012: 50% (fifty percent) of the price advertised.
  • Cancellation before 8 May 2012: 100% (one hundred percent) of the price advertised.
  • All refunds will be processed after the Conference and on receipt of a written request sent to the Conference Organizers, The Conference Company.
  • Tours will be conducted in English only and will operate on the specified dates only.
  • All tours are based on a minimum of 4 passengers per tour. In the event that the minimum number of passengers is not reached, the tour will be cancelled and payment will be reimbursed after the conference
  • Meals included are as specified in the tour itinerary. Please check the applicable itinerary for details.
  • Transportation is in air- conditioned touring vehicles, coaches, minibuses or sedan vehicles appropriate to the requirements of the tour. The tour operator therefore reserve the right to use smaller coaches, minibuses or sedan vehicles on its scheduled tours should the number of passengers participating reduce sufficiently to warrant this.
  • Passengers shall check in at all departure points at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. The Conference Company does not accept responsibility for any passenger who fails to comply with this condition.


LIABILITY

The Conference Secretariat has taken all reasonable care in making arrangements for the Conference. In the event of unforeseen disruptions, neither the Conference Secretariat nor IAALD 2012 can be held responsible for any losses incurred by delegates. The programme is correct at the time of printing, but organisers reserve the right to alter the programme if and when deemed necessary. The Conference Secretariat acts as an agent only in securing hotels, transport and travel services, and shall in no event be liable for acts or omissions in the event of injury, damage, loss, accident delay or irregularity of any kind whatsoever during arrangements organised through contractors or by the employees of such contractors. Hotel and transportation services are subject to the terms and conditions under which they are offered to the general public. Delegates should make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance. The Conference Secretariat reserves the right to make changes as and when deemed necessary, without prior notice to the parties concerned. All disputes are subject to resolution under South African Law.

All accommodation, tours and other arrangements are subject to alteration and cancellation at any time without prior notice, due to factors that are outside of the organizers reasonable control. This will be at the sole and absolute discretion of the organizers. Should such events, such as Force Majeure, render the organizers unable to deliver such service, the organizers shall not be held responsible. The organizers cannot be held responsible for any damages, and or costs, whatsoever arising from any such alteration or cancellation
